Fredi and Emma Rivero joined Kids Alive in 2011 when Mission TEC came under the umbrella of Kids Alive International, and continue to serve in the Mission TEC Care Centre in Pucallpa, Peru.
Fredi was born in Tarapoto, Peru, but moved to the Pucallpa area with his family when he was 14 years old, due to terrorism in his land. Fredi attended Mision TEC from 2000 to 2002 as a student, when it was a technical training school, and went on to study and teach English in several institutions in Pucallpa.
Emma was born and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland, but had the opportunity to serve in several different countries before coming to Peru. Initially, Emma spent two years in Arequipa in the south of Peru, and then headed north to the jungle to serve with Mission TEC. Emma has now been serving in Peru for 11 years, nine of these based in the TEC Care Centre. They have three sons: Jake, Will, and Sam, - all boys are big fans of football, fishing and riding their bikes!!
Mission TEC holds a very special place in Emma and Fredi's hearts as they met here and also held their wedding ceremony on the deck of the Mission overlooking the lake. Fredi and Emma are involved in different ministries in TEC; they lead the youth ministry program and Fredi is involved in AWANA, the music ministry and also the sports ministry in TEC. Emma also has been running a group for Young mums along with a couple of other ladies from TEC. As well as ministry in TEC Fredi is in leadership in their church.
“The opportunities that we have, both serving in TEC and also in the church, deepen our understanding of God’s grace and mercy upon us. We are so privileged to be able to spend time preparing and learning more about the Bible and about God, and to be able to share this with the children and youth that we come into contact with on a daily basis.” -Emma & Fredi
