Bilingual Colombian American sophomore studying global affairs at Yale University. Mateo is an active member of the Yale Undergraduate Legal Aid Association where he volunteers with pro bono immigration attorneys drafting affidavits, translating, and interpreting for asylum cases. He is an officer in the Yale Political Union, one of the oldest debating societies in the United States, where he serves as scrivener keeping minutes of his party's debates, meetings, and elections. Mateo proudly attributes his academic success to the many teachers, tutors, and mentors God has put in his path since he immigrated to the United States. Mateo graduated from Wheaton Academy in 2024 where, beyond building a strong academic foundation, he solidified a deep faith and a personal relationship with Christ. Out of profound gratitude to all that God has done in his life, Mateo is eager to serve with Kids Alive and help God's children in the Dominican Republic.
