Mikela Broach

  • Country Dominican Republic

Mikela Broach Cervantes was born in Quito, Ecuador. Her father is Ecuadorian and her mother is Cuban. She moved to Cuba for her parents’ ministry when she was 2 years old. She grew up in a Cuban environment, studying in a Spanish-speaking public school there. Mikela has always been involved in ministry with her Mom and Dad, and as a teenager got involved in dance ministry - giving classes to kids in church. When she was 16 years old she moved to Quito, Ecuador to learn and study English. It was a cultural shock, but she recognized that God was with her all the time and He was the one that helped her overcome the boundaries. She also got involved with Guardians, a group that teaches Bible classes and has games for the younger kids.

Last year she moved to the U.S. to study Math Education at Azusa Pacific University. While involved in an international group she met Chase, a missionary from the DR. That is when she started hearing about the ministry of Kids Alive in the DR. She is very excited for the opportunity to serve in the DR this summer. As a missionary kid from Cuba, she is fluent in the language and very aware of the culture and how to work with kids. She loves kids and she loves God, so her passion is to follow what He has for her.
