The Lord has been drawing Robin Sweitzer into ministry toward orphans and vulnerable children for many years. This passion was kindled during a college internship at an orphanage in Romania, where her heart was captured by the children she worked with there. Robin has earned a B.S. in Bible with a minor in Missions, then her Master’s degree in Applied Developmental Psychology. She is a leader in her church’s foster care and adoption ministry and has worked full-time with young children with developmental delays. She has also traveled internationally on many occasions to support the work of children’s ministries in various countries.
After serving with Kids Alive in Kenya the past two years, Robin now feels the Lord has presented an opportunity to use her gifts and skills full-time in the Dominican Republic. Her goal is to minister to children in the DR as the hands and feet of Christ and to train staff in the children's homes in the Kids Alive Standards of Excellence and Best Practices in Childcare. She hopes that these children will learn to believe as she has; that no matter what, God loves them and is the source of hope. As an illustration of this, she refers to Jeremiah 29:11:
"'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord. 'Plans to prosper you, not to harm you; plans to give you hope and a future.'"
