Denisa Care Center

Denisa Care Center

In 2007, Kids Alive expanded in Romania by opening the Denisa Care Center for impoverished children in the village of Dobrun. The Center is impacting the lives of more than 50 village children every year, supplementing the half-day of public education with three to four hours of additional education and tutoring support.

Since most parents of our kids received little or no education, leaving them unable to help their children with academic issues, the homework help offered to the students is critical. The Center also provides some clothing, school supplies, nutritious snacks and fruits, and access to library books. Many fun extracurricular activities are organized for the kids at Denisa throughout the school year or during summer time, with the participation of Service Teams from the US and the UK.

In the last six years, more than 80 kids finished their stay at Denisa Care Center and were able to advance to high school because of the educational help they received. Twenty-four of them graduated from high school and the rest are still in high school. Of the ones who have already graduated, eleven are now in university or college, and the others have respected jobs and are responsible young adults.

The Denisa Care Center impacts the lives of the children each day, in turn influencing families, community, the educational system, and Romanian society in general. Kids Alive continues its mission to care for the whole child, meeting the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of each one and guiding them toward independence.
