Eva Russell was the Canadian missionary who inspired Ramon and Juana Prenza of Dominican Republic to start a program for children in Monte Plata. In 1984, the Prenzas opened a school in a rented house so that 20 children could receive a much-needed education. Since then, the Eva Russell School has grown and educates an ever-increasing number of children each year.

Recently purchased land has enabled the school to add more classrooms, bathroom facilities, a kitchen, computer lab, as well as a clinic to care for the growing population of students attending the Kids Alive Eva Russell School. The school also boasts one of the most effective AWANA programs in the area, providing a tangible way to teach the children about Jesus as they memorize Scripture.
